The Banner is an observation tower located near Fort McHenry in Baltimore, the site where the national anthem of the United States was penned. The tower's layered metal screens invoke memories of the tattered flag that Francis Scott Key witnessed as well as the city's industrial past. The tower provides a numerous observation decks with openings that frame specific views to nearby attractions. The main observation is topped with a twinkling cap in further reference to the Star Spangled Banner.

This design project was completed in 2016 by Bryan Samuel with guidance from Professor James Tilghman.
