CROSS HOUSE

The Cross House is a four-bedroom home in Normandy Park that draws inspiration from sacred architecture, with a cruciform plan and clerestory windows that fill the space with light from above.
A roof monitor runs the full length of the primary volume, anchored by stone chimney, establishing clear hierarchy within the cross. High windows invite southern light deep into the heart of the home; the shifting hues and shadows throughout the day lend the great room a sense of the transcendent.
The tall, light-filled volume is heated from the floor up, with a hydronic radiant system beneath the porcelain tile delivering warmth directly to occupants instead of losing it to the space above.
The home is designed in equal parts for expansive entertainment and comfortable intimacy. The kitchen island anchors the heart of the great room, which opens directly to the patio and frames views to the front and back yard. The fireplace draws people in around the center of the cross. When the gathering quiets, the media room, gym, home office, and master suite — tucked into its own level below — offer a world apart.
